Choosing frozen French fries: cut, size and process

Straight 6 to 10 mm, crinkle, steak, wedges or dices; blanched or par-fried; coated or not: what each choice means for your kitchen.

Golden French fries in a frying basket

French fries are supplied every month of the year. These are the choices that shape the product on your plate.

Cut and size

  • Straight cut 6, 7, 9 or 10 mm
  • Crinkle and steak cuts
  • Wedges and dices

Process

Blanched or par-fried, coated or uncoated, skin-on or skin-off, in grade A, B or mixed.

No added salt

The ingredients are potatoes and vegetable oil (palm) only, so restaurants and ready-meal makers keep full control of the seasoning.

Packs

Retail 1 kg and 2.5 kg, foodservice 2.5 kg and 10 kg, bulk 10, 20 and 25 kg, and totes of 350 and 500 kg, in a 10 kg carton.

Cooking

Fry straight from frozen in oil preheated to 175 °C for 3 to 4 minutes, until golden. Do not refreeze after thawing.
